After You Leave the Tattoo Shop
- Leave provided bandage on for at least two hours.
- Wash hands good with antibacterial soap.
- Remove bandage by soaking it in the shower so it doesn’t stick from any dried blood.
- Gently wash the tattoo with a small amount of antibacterial soap (such as liquid Dial).
- Let it air dry for two hours to allow the pours in your skin to close back up.
- Apply a thin layer of ointment provided (Bag Balm).
- Continue using this 4-5 times a day until your tattoo is completely healed. If small pimples occur you are using too much and clogging your pours.
- Your tattoo is likely to leave imprints on clothing and sheets for the first few days. Make sure it is not rubbing off any scabs that may be present.
Always
- Wash your hands and the tattoo with antibacterial soap before applying any ointment or lotion.
- Let any scabs fall off naturally.
- Relieve itching by patting or slapping your tattoo.
- Use sun block (SPF40 or greater) when your tattoo will be in the sun.
Never
- Swim or soak in water until your tattoo is fully healed.
- Sunbathe or use tanning beds until your tattoo is fully healed.
- Scratch your tattoo (this includes not letting clothing/sheets rub on the tattooed area).
- Rebandage your tattoo. Ever!
- Cover with tight clothing such as socks, panty hose, bra straps, etc.
Use common sense. If you are healthy, your body will usually take care of itself. These instructions are provided to help with a faster healing process. (5 days to 1-1/2 weeks is the norm) However if these instructions are followed, and the skin is red, sore, swelled, and excreting for a few days or more, you may have an infection. See a doctor immediately.
If you use any other kind of after care we will not honor any touch-ups.
